Go Home and Vote

Fellow Drivers, Friends, and Family;

I am asking for your support and help in getting this message to as many people as possible. If you have any questions about these issues please feel free to contact me.

I want to suggest a better way for my fellow truckers to protest high fuel prices, high road taxes, the transportation bill, poor roads and low freight rates.

I like to call it GO HOME AND VOTE!

The plan is for all drivers to demand their right to vote at their home polls on November 2, 2004. It is a more productive way to demonstrate how important the trucking industry is to this country and the issues that concern truckers the most.

Most importantly it is not illegal for a citizen to demand the right to vote, blocking interstate traffic is. However, it is a violation of our constitutional rights to bar or impede a citizen’s access to, or exercising of, our right to vote.

As an Owner-Operator I know that my fellow Owner-Operators can do this without serious financial repercussion. It would take two days to get every one home and two days to get everyone loaded back out. I believe that this campaign is important enough that I am recommending deadheading home if need be.

I also believe that the Teamsters can get their union to back them, if they demand their right to vote at their home polls.

I do not advocate one candidate over, the only issue is that this year 6 million truckers go home and vote.

Most importantly, this is not a strike! I would not and do not support a trucking strike!

Thanks,

- Happy Jack -
